I have to go against Arena Net giving us ALL the previous hats.
I honestly feel like the players who had received the beginning/early festival hats are special and everything but they deserve the hat because they had joined the game in its early stages and have been playing for quiet some time. A festival hat is a mark of "Lookie! I attended one of the first [insert festival name here]!" Giving away all the festival hats from earlier events would just not make them that special anymore and would be disappointing to some players who had received them in the past. And no, I assure you that I have not been playing for that long but I must say, a wicked hat would be quiet the hat to give us for Halloween

- Spider Cookies: Double-click to gain a 5% morale boost and +1 to all attributes for the next 15 minutes. This morale boost does not cause skills to instantly recharge.
- Arrow Pierced Hat: Appear to have a Ranger arrow lodged through your head from the right side to the left.
- Vampire Blood: Double-click to move 33% faster. If used in a town/outpost, you take the form of a Hopping Vampire. If used in an explorable or mission, you next ten skills drain 15 health from target foe.
- Trapped Soul: Double click to release a trapped soul, scaring enemies and causes knockdown to all adjacent foes. If more than three enemies were knocked down, when they get back up, they suffer from Weakness for 8 seconds.
- Palawa Joko Mask: Your face looks like Palawa Joko. Can be worn to cross the Desolation unharmed, but you suffer 5 health degeneration and spells take 33% longer to cast. You cannot ride in Junundu Wurms while wearing this mask.
- You Waited Long Enough: If you still have "The Waiting Game" quest in your inventory, you can automatically challenge Dhuum without the need of completing the Underworld's quests. You will not be awarded the Underworld Hall of Monuments trophy if you beat Dhuum this way if you haven't beaten him yet.

I suggested to a TK member about possibly a hat that totally removes your head altogther so you can run around like the Headless Horseman. Not a hat in the strictest sense, but hey.

I'm totally down for that. Since they put Dhuum in, I've killed him ONCE. ONCE!!!!!!!!! I've been lobbying in the Test Krewe forums to split Dhuum out from UW.

Well, you also have to remember that the Wicked Hat was an additional hat. They also gave out the Pumpkin Head that year. So it only made sense that they would have done it again later on: a wicked hat + whatever is new that year.

I totally agree with this. A hat is like "I've been to the event and all I got was this lousy hat". And mind you, I miss almost all the hats, and the ones I like more, so there's no personal interest in this. But if I wasn't there...

Is that a mask that looks like your own face?
(Or more likely you want a mask that looks like this?)
Some sort of new witch hat would be nice, since I missed the first one and I doubt they'll repeat any.

Not that having more headpieces from previous events give you anything but fun - that fun should be attainable by everyone, even those who just found out GW.

When I first started (a couple of months before Factions was released), I didn't know special events existed. According to the wiki, there was no event for the 1-year anniversary of GW (the Day of the Tengu was around that time, for the Factions release). That would make sense, since I wasn't involved with Factions, and I think I would have remembered event drops. I had taken a significant break from the game without even knowing this game would celebrate anything in-game. So forgive people if they were not even informed of what was going on in the community. From my experience there was nothing to be gained by looking on forums or the official website, other than generic discussion or promotional advertising; it didn't even cross my mind. Add to that (from what I can tell) the GW wiki wasn't built until 2007.
I will accept that I had simply played for a stretch of time where nothing gave any indication about events. I didn't see anyone in hats or things like candy cane weapons. I have to chalk it up to bad timing of experiencing GW as just another game.

I've been to all the festivals except for the first dragon one and the first halloween one and I'm in favour of making all past hats obtainable. I couldn't give a flying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO who was at the first wintersday festival with me and neither does anyone else in the game. If someone wants a hat give them their RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing hat, all the precious people who want to feel better than everyone else can jump in a lake, it's depressing being around people who think like that.
Festival hats should be tied to quest rewards each year allowing anyone to get them during the festival instead of the stupid afk fest we have each year. I'm sick of having to log in my toon to sit afk on a ring each year just to get the hat. I'd rather do the quest chains and get the hat by actually playing the game and participating in the festival.

The official wiki wasn't built until then but the original wiki, Guild Wiki, served the community perfectly fine until ArenaNet stole it's thunder. Both wikis are going strong today although for many years (and in some cases even today) content from Prophecies and Factions is documented better on the original wiki.
The official wiki didn't really add anything to the community aside from a failed experiment in directly exposing ArenaNet staff to jaded and angry fans.

A most excellent education for new people with little understanding of the simple thievery from open source wiki and the lack of any improvement and even lower quality in many areas.
Much appreciation for your comments......thanks.
Edit about hats: I disagree on openning them wide open. However, at the end of a long arduous quest set with the option to pay 150k (no less) I wouldn't mind seeing it open for those that reaaaally want some of the old hats it would be fair enough. I could go for that to get a couple old hats.

I hope I wasn't the only one that looked up the elite skill by this name and mused that it could describe this. In all seriousness though, that is news to me.
I know a lot of things aren't documented well on GWW, I especially think its images (particularly of armor and weapons) aren't very good. I go to the wikia to look at armor previews or forum threads for dye guides to actually see some flattering screen shots.

People who want their status symbol... well who cares, most of them afk'd through it anyways. If its really that important to somebody add a small texture change to quest attained hats and only make the quests available during the event for the previous years hats.
For the new hats though... The lupine/charr head thing was disappointing and fugly and the face paints were pretty meh. I'd really like to see some halloween masks that are worth the effort of getting like the first couple year's hats.

I lost my Wicked Hat somehow. So another version (different but like) would be very welcome. And, NO, no duplication of hats.
